Year 3 are Rainforest Explorers!

10th June 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

Our Year 3 children had a fabulous time on Monday as they became Rainforest Explorers!

We began the day diving into the wonders of the rainforest – learning about its fascinating layers and the incredible animals that call it home. Then, we explored rainforest produce, handling real nuts and seeds .

Next, we helped Lola the Lemur on an exciting rainforest trail through the Winter Gardens, solving clues and discovering fascinating facts along the way! ️‍

After lunch, we explored the museum with a fun interactive trail. From finding something blue, to spotting artefacts over 1000 years old, to picking out objects that made us laugh – the children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout.

Their behaviour was exceptional all day – listening carefully, respecting museum visitors with quiet voices and safe walking, and showing real maturity on the Metro and during the walk back to school.

Well done, Year 3 – you made us proud!

Class 8 – Magic Carpet Tours!

14th November 2024Fiona Goodwin

Class 8 are taking off on a new adventure with ‘Magic Carpet Tours’! This week, we used the Flyover feature on Google Maps to soar above London in 3D, getting a bird’s-eye view of iconic landmarks. The children explored each site in detail and picked their favourites to feature in their upcoming persuasive travel leaflet.

Bringing ICT into Literacy made this experience even more magical – and the excitement was contagious! Stay tuned for some travel inspiration from our young tour guides.

Year 3’s visit from Zoolab!

29th June 2023Miss K. Wilkinson

Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous afternoon today. Rob from ZooLab came to visit us as part of our rainforests topic to show us different animals that call the rainforest their home. We began by meeting some animals who live on the forest floor, before moving up through the layers all the way up to the emergent layer. Some animals we handled included a millipede, a giant land snail, a snake, and a cockroach.

The children were so brave, some giving the animals a stroke, some holding the animals, and some just having a good look! They listened very intently to what Rob had to say, and asked some really interesting questions. Zoolab really brought our rainforests topic to life!

Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous afternoon today. Rob from ZooLab came to visit us as part of our rainforests topic to show us different animals that call the rainforest their home.

We met animals from the forest floor, the understorey, the canopy layer and the emergent layer. The children were so brave and handled all of the animals with great care. They listened very intently to what Rob had to say and asked so many insightful questions!

Mrs Garr even popped in to meet some!

African Dance Workshop

13th January 2022Miss K. Wilkinson

KS2 children had a fantastic experience of an African dance workshop on Tuesday. It was a fun, engaging and memorable essential learning experience that allowed the children to have a broad understanding of cultural diversity.

The workshops were delivered by the fantastic Tunde Olasupo, who taught them some of the different traditional African dance moves native to this wonderfully vibrant and diverse culture.
