Adventurers 7

Hello and welcome to Adventurers 7, a Year 3 class taught by Miss Wilkinson.

Welcome

The jump to KS2 is always a big one, but I want you to know that I can not wait to welcome you into my class. We are going to have a fantastic year together!

Wednesday 9th September – Back to school for all children

Don't Forget!

School day for KS2 children commences at 8:30am and finishes at 3:15pm.

As with last year, parents are not allowed on site during drop-off without an appointment so we ask that you wait at the lower side gate The Burn entrance) at drop off.

During pick up you can collect your child from our classroom fire door. Gates will open at 3:10pm for pickup at 3:15pm. If you need to collect your child any earlier you must report to the office.

KS2 pupils are entitled to milk, either free or paid, however paid milk MUST be paid on Parent Pay. Please see the school office if you need help using Parent Pay.

Reading

Reading is a hugely important part of our curriculum, and we ask that you aim to read with your child at least 3 times per week (and sign their pink reading diaries). As part of our new reading initiative this year, children who have read to an adult 3 times in a week will receive a sticker or stamp on their own personal reading bookmark. Once they fill their bookmark they will receive a special reward!

PE

P.E. for Class 7 in the Autumn term will be on a Friday afternoon where we will have the wonderful Miss Skiggs for dance.

On P.E. Days, children will need to wear the correct P.E. kit. This should be kept on their pegs for the half term in case of any timetable changes:

      • Plain white t-shirt (with or without school logo)
      • Navy or black jogging bottoms/leggings or shorts
      • Black or white trainers
      • School hoodie or plain navy hooded top (optional)

We are also very lucky to be able to go swimming on a weekly basis this half term. We will be walking to Boldon Comp on a Monday afternoon for swimming lessons with Mr Turner.

Children will need to bring appropriate swimming kit on Mondays to take part:

      • Swimming costume (no two-pieces)
      • Towel
      • Swimming hat / goggles (optional)

Mental Arithmetic

In Adventurers 7 we will complete daily Mental Arithmetic sessions. These may include recapping methods taught in maths, recalling number bonds, or times tables. Children are able to practise these skills at home using Maths Shed or Times Table Rockstars.

If your child needs a new log in for either of those platforms, please get in touch.

Termly Topics

Our topics for the Autumn1 half term are as follows:

Literacy: Leon and the Place Between by Angela McAllister
Guided Reading: Voices in the Park by Anthony Browne
Maths: Place Value
Learning Means the World: That’s All Folks! (Animation)
R.E: How do Hindus worship?

Please see our Curriculum pages for each year group’s long term planning.

ClassDojo

This year we will be continuing to Class Dojo school-wide as a means of maintaining parent communication. I will be posting regular updates to our Class Story throughout the year as well as reminders for parents and pupils.

I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!
