I became a staff governor in 2020, having previously been a parent governor for 2 terms. I attended West Boldon Junior School myself, so the school has a special place in my heart, having had a very happy time here. My youngest daughter attended here and is now going into her last year at Boldon School.

I started working in the school 4 years ago, after volunteering for a few years, it inspired me to return to college and gain my teaching assistant qualification. Being part of the governing body allows me to put across the points of view of the children and how the decisions we make have an effect on the children.

It’s always a pleasure to speak to our parents and share their children’s achievements with them too. I love our school and being able to help our children access the curriculum, to the highest of their abilities, offering encouragement and praise, every step of the way.

I joined the governing board in June 2016. I have worked in the local community, in both nursery and primary school, for 28 years. I am married and have one daughter who attends Boldon School and have lived in Boldon for 8 years.

My interests are arts and crafts, photography and travelling to other countries worldwide.

My aim as part of the governing board is to make a positive contribution to the school, helping the school to go from strength to strength and pushing the performance of the school to the parents and the wider community.

I am passionate about West Boldon Primary and strive to help create a safe, inclusive, nurturing environment, where the curriculum is creative, inspirational and relevant to the children’s needs.
