Class 9 is a Year 3 class taught by Miss Ingoe and supported by Miss McCarthy (Monday to Wednesday) and Miss Turnbull (Wednesday to Friday).

Welcome

Hello and welcome to Class 9’s page!

I’m so excited to welcome you all to our new class. Moving into Key Stage 2 is a big and exciting step, and we’re going to have a fantastic year full of learning, creativity, and fun together!

Important Dates

Monday 1st & Tuesday 2nd September – INSET Days (School Closed)

Wednesday 3rd September – Back to school for all children

Wednesday 3rd September – Meet the Teacher (after school)

Drop off and Pick-up

The school day for KS2 children starts at 8:30am and finishes at 3:15pm.

Morning Drop-off: Year 3 pupils should enter through the top gate (Hindmarch Drive). Please wait with your child until a member of the Year 3 team comes to collect the class at 8:30am.
Children attending Breakfast Club may be dropped off earlier, and they will be brought to class by staff after breakfast.

Pick-up: You can collect your child from our classroom fire door at 3:15pm. The gates will open at 3:10pm. If you need to collect your child earlier, please report to the main office.

Milk

KS2 pupils are entitled to milk (either free or paid). Paid milk must be paid for via Parent Pay. Please contact the school office if you need any help setting this up.

Reading

Reading is at the heart of our learning in Year 3. We encourage children to read at home at least three times per week and for parents/carers to sign their pink reading diaries.

Children who read with an adult three times in a week will receive a sticker or stamp on their reading bookmark. When their bookmark is full, they’ll receive a special reward!

P.E.

P.E. for Class 9 in the Autumn term will take place on Friday afternoons with the wonderful Miss Skiggs for dance (Autumn 1) and John for Rugby (Autumn 2).

On P.E. days, children should wear the correct P.E. kit, which should be kept in school on their peg for the half term (in case of any timetable changes):

  • Plain white t-shirt (with or without school logo)
  • Navy or black jogging bottoms/leggings or shorts
  • Black or white trainers
  • School hoodie or plain navy hooded top (optional)

Mental Arithmetic

In Year 3 we complete daily Core Maths sessions, focusing on mental arithmetic, times tables, and number facts. Children can practise at home using Times Table Rockstars — if your child needs a new login, please let me know.

Termly Topics – Autumn

Literacy: Journey by Aaron Becker and George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl
Power Maths: Place Value and Addition and Subtraction
Dimensions: That’s All Folks! (Animation) and May the Force Be with You (Forces and Magnets)
R.E.: ‘How do Hindus worship?’ and ‘How and why is Advent important to Christians?’

Please see the Curriculum pages for our long-term planning overview.

ClassDojo

We will continue to use Class Dojo as our main platform for parent communication.
I’ll post regular updates, photos, and reminders on our Class Story to keep you informed and involved throughout the year.

I can’t wait for a wonderful year of learning, growth, and fun with Class 9!

— Miss Ingoe
