Pupil Premium at West Boldon Primary School
At West Boldon Primary School, we have high expectations for all pupils. We are committed to ensuring that pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium funding are supported to overcome barriers to learning and achieve strong outcomes, particularly in reading, writing and mathematics.

We track the progress and attainment of disadvantaged pupils closely. Achievement is reviewed termly through Pupil Progress meetings involving school leaders, enabling us to evaluate impact and adapt provision promptly where needed.

Our three-year Pupil Premium strategy is focused on:

  • high-quality teaching for all pupils
  • early identification of need
  • targeted academic support
  • improving attendance and engagement
  • supporting pupils’ wellbeing and readiness to learn

Our assessment framework allows us to identify pupils who may be at risk of not meeting age-related expectations. Where this is the case, pupils receive targeted support, which may include academic interventions, booster groups, or strategies to support behaviour, attendance and wellbeing.

By balancing these approaches carefully, we aim to ensure that disadvantaged pupils are fully supported, make strong progress from their starting points, and have the best possible opportunities to succeed.
