Hello and welcome to Class 7, a Year 3 class taught by Miss Wilkinson. I know that things have been quite strange lately, and this jump to KS2 may feel bigger than ever, but I want you to know that I can not wait to welcome you into my class. We are going to have a fantastic year together!

There have been some changes to our school this year and there are a few things you need to know before starting back with us this year.
School day for Year 3 commences at 9am and finishes at 3:15pm. Parents/carers are not allowed on site so we ask that you wait at the upper side gate (Hindmarch Drive) at drop off and collection times. There will be signs on either side of the gate showing where to line up for each Year 3 class.
KS2 pupils are entitled to milk, either free or paid, however paid milk MUST be paid on Parent Pay. Please see the school office if you need help signing up to Parent Pay.
This half term we are very lucky to have dance and swimming as part of our PE lessons. Dance will take place on a Wednesday morning and Swimming will take place on a Wednesday afternoon at Boldon Comp. Children will need to come to school in the correct P.E. kit on these days:

- Plain white t-shirt (with or without school logo)
- Navy or black jogging bottoms/leggings or shorts
- Black or white trainers

Reading is a hugely important part of our curriculum, and we ask that you aim to read with your child at least 3 times per week (and sign their pink reading diaries). Children who have read to an adult 3 times in a week will be able to tick a square on our class reading challenge. Once we reach 100 we will be rewarded with a class prize! Let’s get reading!
Homework in Year 3 consists of daily reading (as mentioned above) and weekly spellings. Spellings will be given out on a Monday and tested on a Friday morning. Remember to use Spelling Shed at home to practise!
In Class 7 we will complete daily Mental Arithmetic sessions. These may include recapping methods taught in maths, recalling number bonds, or times tables. Children are able to practise these skills at home using Maths Shed or Times Table Rockstars.

In the instance of a Bubble closure this year, home learning will be delivered on Seesaw. We will deliver 2-3 tasks per day, which you can complete using the Seesaw tools or by writing on paper and uploading a photo of your child’s work.
We are also using ClassDojo as means of communicating with parents, which will also help in the event of a Bubble closure.

This year we will be using Class Dojo school-wide as a means of maintaining parent communication and as our whole-school rewards system. I will be posting regular updates to our Class Story throughout the year as well as reminders for parents and pupils.
