Explorers 1

Explorers 1

Explorers 1 is a Reception class taught by Miss Fraser and supported by Mrs Burns.

Start and End times:
Our day starts at 9:00 and finishes at 3:15

Please wait until 9am to come into the Reception Garden. You are then able to come to the classroom doors to drop off your child. Miss Smith’s classroom is on the left and Miss Fraser’s classroom is on the right. It would be best to leave your child as soon as you drop them so they get used to being independent.

For pick ups, again, please come into the Reception Garden and line up at the appropriate classroom door.  Please allow space for other parents and children when entering and exiting the school.

Reading
Please bring your child’s reading diary (when you receive one) into school every Friday. They will receive any phonics sounds to learn on a Friday. Reading Diaries can be signed by yourself and will be signed by a member of staff when we have read with them. This will happen once the children have began phonics. We will keep you updated with this Via the Class Dojo App.
If your child has a reading book please make sure that they have it with them everyday. The expectation is to read with your child 3 times per week and sign their reading diary on each occasion.
Reading day is a Wednesday. Please ensure that your child brings their reading book in on that day to be changed. The reading book must be read three times before we change it. Thank you

Class Dojo
Class Dojo will be our main form of communication this year. Feel free to message us if you have any questions or concerns. All updates will go on there so please keep an eye out for those.

PE kit
Please bring your child’s PE kit in at the start of the year and we will keep it on their peg. PE kit consists of a white t-shirt, blue or black shorts and some black plimsolls. Any practise you can do with your child to help them get dressed and undressed independently would support them greatly.

PE days are Wednesdays for Reception. They need a white top, blue/black shorts or jogging pants and black trainers or plimsolls. These can remain on their pegs for the half term.

Milk
If your child would like milk, please log on to parent pay £9.10 – your child will receive milk the following Monday.

Termly Topics

Literacy and Guided Reading – Jack and the Beanstalk
Dimensions – Help is at Hand
PE – Gymnastics and Throwing and Catching
Commando Joe – Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill.
