Healthy Eating

4th April 2022Miss K. Wilkinson

Year 4 have been learning all about Healthy Eating this half term. They now know about the different food groups, the correct ratios for the food groups and how to choose healthy options for themselves. This week we have moved onto careers involving food and had a visit from our school cook- Mandy. The children prepared questions such as:
-How do you choose the menu? -How do you ensure we have a healthy diet?
-What qualifications do you need to be a school cook?
-What roles are there in the kitchen?
-Do you enjoy your job?

The children listened to Mandy and received lots of information for their next task- designing a school menu.

Thank you Mandy for visiting us this week. 😊

Blue and Yellow for Ukraine

25th March 2022Miss K. Wilkinson

Today, children were invited to come to school to raise awareness, raise funds and show solidarity with Ukraine. They were able to come to school in non-uniform, wearing something blue, yellow or a combination of the two. We are really proud of how our children embraced this – just look at these lovely photos!

Note to parents: Thank you so much for your donations. We will be collecting again at the KS2 Mother’s Day Assemblies and then we will let you know how much we have raised for the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.

A core focus of World Water Day is to inspire action towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG, also known as Global Goal) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

Year 1’s toy donation success!

18th February 2022Miss K. Wilkinson

Thank you to all of the children in Year One and their families for your generous donations. The children have loved learning about the great things Dr Barnardo did to change the lives of thousands of children. Hopefully our donations will help others too.

Year 1 Toy Donation

11th February 2022Miss K. Wilkinson

The Year 1 children are currently learning about Dr Barnardo and how he worked to try to help the Street Children of Victorian London.

The children have already learnt a lot about his life and work and the terrible situation many people lived in. They have also discovered how they can use some historical sources of information, made predictions as well as learning to place events on a timeline.

We plan to end our topic next week by asking if the children in Year 1 could donate one small toy to our collection to be given to the Barnardo charity.
