Year 1 have been making bird feeders as part of following instructions and getting ready to think of our own instructions. They then took the bird feeders down to the Secret Garden for their feathered friends!

In Year 3 this week we began our brand new Dimensions topic – That’s All Folks!
It is a history based topic with elements of computing as it’s all about early film and animation! The children are thoroughly enjoying it so far as this week we learned how to make flip books, zoetropes AND stop motion animations.
See below for some of our fabulous examples!

Today Year 4 started their new Dimensions topic all about Technology and the internet. They talked about how humans ‘stay connected’ and they were amazed when they had to create a timeline of technology and transport.
The teachers and children were shocked at how old some things were and the children couldn’t believe that the World Wide Web is only 30 years old!

Another fantastic celebration assembly this afternoon. It was so nice to hear about all the amazing work that has gone on this week. Mrs Garr also loved handing out her golden coin for the book vending machine.
Another great thing about schools returning to normality is we can start to have visitors again. We love having Chris Bostock visiting our school as he has an unnatural talent for bringing stories to life, the children were transfixed!

Year 1 really enjoyed their first Commando Joe lesson of the year. This week the children had to transport the “apples” across the bridge to Little Red Riding Hoods grandmas basket. The children huddled up to share ideas with their team and showed super team work and resilience. 🍎

Class 6 have had a fab afternoon completing their first Commando Joe mission of the Autumn Term! 🤩
This is part of their Pocahontas unit and was a great activity to get them started. In teams, we each had to protect our ‘babies’ in our Native American tribe from the English. As Native American mothers, team leaders had to make a sling to carry their babies hands free and lead their team to safety across the treacherous forest. They had to navigate over slippery stepping stones, cross bubbling brooks, trawl under leafy terrain, as well as avoiding any dangerous wildlife.
What an adventure they had! 🧳

Year 3 took part in their first mission to the Amazon this week with Commando Joe. This term they are learning about Ed Stafford and how he walked the length of the Amazon River over two years. They will have to complete tasks each week which require them to show the same skills Ed will have used when he was on his journey.

We had an amazing day on Monday dressing up as characters from our new Dimensions curriculum launch. The children and staff dressed up as navigators, pathfinders, adventurers or explorers. It was a great fun day to launch a curriculum that we are all very passionate about.
⭐️🌟You can’t believe what an amazing feeling it was to be able to hold our first whole school celebration assembly this afternoon. How proud do they all look? Well done to everyone for all their hard work this week, especially so for our superstars. ⭐️🌟
