Year 1/2 enjoyed a visit from local storyteller Chris Bostock today. Chris visited to tell us some enchanting tales about animals. This links with our current topic ‘Happily Ever After’. The children enjoyed joining in with the actions and words and were fascinated by his various voices and sound effects!

Year 5 Reader’s Theatre

23rd September 2024Fiona Goodwin

In Year 5 Readers Theatre, we explored the biography of astronaut Tim Peake. This not only helped improve the children’s reading comprehension but also connected nicely with our Commando Joe lesson, where the students participated in an exciting space mission-themed activity, inspired by Peake’s real-life experiences in space.

House Captains and Vice Captains 2024

23rd September 2024Fiona Goodwin
Exciting News from West Boldon Primary
We believe in the power of democracy and giving our students a voice! We constantly talk to our children about British Values and democracy is a key part of this.️ This week, our pupils took part in a *real-life election* to choose their new **House Captains** and **Vice Captains** for each house!
After a fun and fair campaign, complete with speeches and lots of enthusiasm, the children voted for the leaders who will guide their house throughout the year.
Congratulations to all the winners! We’re so proud of all the students who took part — this was a fantastic opportunity to learn about leadership and teamwork.

Thurston 2024

23rd September 2024Fiona Goodwin

It was an exciting day for many of our year 5/6s as they headed off to Thurston in the Lake District. They had a nice drive over and stopped en route for some lunch. They have just arrived now safe and sound; they are busy unpacking and getting allocated their dorms.

Welcome Back!!

4th September 2024Fiona Goodwin

Welcome back!! We hope you’ve enjoyed a relaxing summer break. We’re excited to welcome you back for another amazing year, full of learning and opportunities for everyone to dive into!

We are looking for everyone to achieve their best this year and we are here to support all the children to achieve that. This doesn’t always mean in purely academic ways, it may be about becoming the best gymnast you can become, the most creative artist or just becoming the best friend to someone.

We understand that some of you might be feeling a bit nervous about coming back (both children and parents) – that’s totally normal and okay. 6 weeks is a long time to be off but as a school community we are all here to help and support. Just ask.

To our parents and carers, you are a crucial part of our school, our staff couldn’t do what they do without you, thank you so much.

We are going to have a fab year.

Getting ready for the new academic year

14th August 2024Fiona Goodwin

Whilst the school is closed for the summer holidays there’s still lots of activity at West Boldon Primary getting it ready for the new academic year. We’re sanding the Hall floor back to its original colour, getting new flooring in many of the classrooms and getting new fixed displays up. It will look fab for the children when they return.
