Class 4 were challenged to solve a word problem comparing two numbers up to 50 today.

The challenge was to find which of the children had swam the most laps. They used base ten to represent the number of laps, splitting the tens and ones. They discussed with their partners if they should compare the tens or ones numbers. The children also used a number line as another way to compare numbers.
