In our “Come Fly With Me…to the Arctic” we have been learning about some of the traditional customs of the Inuit people who live within the Arctic Circle.

Today we learnt about the custom of Inuit Throat singing. A custom the woman would have taken part in while the men were away hunting. Standing very close to each other the ladies would replicate noises with their own voices that they would hear in nature. The partners would sing rhythmically but try to be the individual that could sing the longest.

Our ultimate class Throat singer was able to keep singing without stopping for breath or laughing against everyone including the teachers!
