A busy and fun week in ARC 1!

5th February 2025Fiona Goodwin

Our outdoor classroom was a hit! For Active Maths, we played ‘Champion’ to practice 1 more and 1 less, built towers and wrote numbers to show our learning.

We also found capital letters in sentences, painted patterns, explored the Arctic, and enjoyed sensory play.

So much learning, laughter, and creativity this week – well done ARC 1!

A fond farewell to Christine Bingham

5th February 2025Fiona Goodwin

On the 17th January, we held a very special assembly to celebrate the incredible career of Christine Bingham, who has decided to retire after 28 years of dedicated service to West Boldon Primary School.

Christine joined us as a Teaching Assistant all those years ago, and through her hard work and commitment, became out much-loved Office Manager. Over nearly three decades, she has been the heart of our school, supporting children, parents, and staff with her kindness, warmth and expertise.

Christine will be deeply missed by everyone here at West Boldon, but we hope she won’t be a stranger and will pop in to visit us often! Thank you for everything Christine – you’ve left a legacy of love and dedication that will remain part of our school forever.

Please join us in wishing Christine a very happy and well-deserved retirement!

Yesterday, our Year 3, 4, and 5 pupils had an amazing time during African Dance Day! They learned a variety of traditional African dances, explored the rhythms of the music , and even got to dress up in vibrant outfits! ✨
The joy and energy in the room were absolutely infectious, and the children had so much fun embracing a new culture while dancing their hearts out!
A huge thank you to everyone who made this day so special – it’s safe to say our young dancers loved every moment!

Reception Outdoor Fun

16th January 2025Fiona Goodwin
Even a little chill in the air can’t stop our Reception children from having fun! ❄️ On Friday, they had an amazing time exploring the Reception garden, discovering, playing, and making wonderful memories outdoors.
You’d never guess these children have only been at West Boldon Primary for a few short months—the progress they’ve made is incredible! A real credit to all of our parents for their support. Well done, everyone!

School Choir – Dementia Friendly Service

8th January 2025Fiona Goodwin

Our amazing school choir had the privilege of performing at the Dementia Friendly Service held at Sacred Heart Church in Boldon. The children sang so beautifully, and it was pure joy when the audience joined in with a few festive favourites, creating such a warm and heartwarming atmosphere.

The service was led by Rev. Emma, with Fr. Keith offering a special blessing to everyone. The children were absolutely thrilled to receive thoughtful gifts of knitted angels and chocolates, which made the day even more memorable.

A huge thank you to the Nurturing Dementia Management Group for organising this wonderful event and inviting us to be part of such a special occasion. It was an experience we’ll cherish forever!

Whirlwind last week of term!

8th January 2025Fiona Goodwin

What a whirlwind of a week and an amazing end to a busy term we had here at West Boldon Primary!

That week alone, we had:

  • Reception activities
  • Key Stage 1 performance
  • Key Stage 2 performance
  • Reception & Key Stage 1 Christmas Party
  • Key Stage 2 Christmas Party

And, in true spirit of Christmas, we were so proud to deliver 20 Christmas hampers, generously donated by the local Catholic Church, to help people nominated within the Boldon community. This highlighted to us just how important being a community-focused school is to us.

A huge thank you to our incredible staff, pupils, families and community for making this term so special!

Reception Nativity Success!

19th December 2024Fiona Goodwin

Yesterday afternoon, our Reception children wowed us all with their incredible nativity performance! Considering they’ve only been with us since September and had just four weeks to rehearse, they truly shone. From the singing and dancing to the confident speaking, every moment was magical.

A big thank you to the parents and families who came along to support the children – your encouragement means so much to us all.

We’re excited for this to be the first of many wonderful Christmas performances over the next few days. What a fantastic way to kick off the festive season!

Rocksteady Concert!

19th December 2024Fiona Goodwin

This morning, our amazing children from Year 1 to Year 6 took the stage and absolutely rocked it! They formed bands, sang their hearts out, and played instruments inspired by their favourite artists. Every performance was fantastic, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Who knows? We may have the next Ed Sheeran or Pink Floyd right here at West Boldon!

If your child would like to join Rocksteady and be part of the next concert at Easter, please let the school office know.

A huge WELL DONE to all our incredible musicians – you smashed it!

This evening, we hosted our SECOND Christmas Party Night for our incredible Key Stage 2 children, and it was a HUGE success!

Over 150 children joined us for a night of dancing, party games, and delicious treats. Everyone looked absolutely amazing in their party outfits and had an unforgettable time!

A massive thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and to our wonderful children for brining so much energy and festive cheer!
