Class 10 have been exploring angles and shapes in their geometry maths unit. They learnt about acute, right angles and obtuse angles. Then used this knowledge to learn about the different triangles. To consolidate their knowledge they completed some practical work sorting and ordering angles as well as using geo-boards to make a variety of triangles.
Year 3 had a brilliant day at the Theatre Royal Newcastle today!
We had the opportunity to see the parts of the theatre that the general public don’t get to see. We saw dressing rooms, music rooms, backstage, under the stage and on the stage! What a view!!
Then we tried out the seats in all the levels, learned about the ghost of lady grey and even had a seat in the royal box.
Then we had an acting master class with Rhian. She was amazing and got us excited about theatre and creating our own plays!
Some of us would love to work in the theatre in the future, whether on the stage, behind the scenes or one of the many hidden roles we learned about today!
What a busy day!
Year 4 have enjoyed their learning in their Viking topic, including an immersive day learning about battle formations, archeology, how Viking Tribes would have made decisions and playing Viking games.
As part of their learning in class the children learnt about the importance of signs and symbols to the Vikings, they incorporated some of these signs into their own models of Viking Longboats.
Earlier this week Year 3 went on an amazing visit to the Life Centre in Newcastle.
There, they took part in a digestive system workshop which linked to their science learning, before exploring the centre and its attractions, including a visit to the Planetarium where they learned all about the Solar System.
We had Zoolab into school today with Year 3 and the ARC. The children were so brave and loved being able to hold and pet all the various creatures… we’re not quite as sure some of the staff loved the experience!
We had a lovely ‘stay and play’ on Friday for all our dads (we were happy for mums, nanas and grandads to come too!). It was so nice to see the interaction between everyone and the children loved their families seeing their amazing reception classrooms.
The children in ARC 1 visited Washington Riding Centre this morning. They had a brilliant time riding the horses, every child embraced this new experience and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
Amazing afternoon for Year 4 just before we broke up for May half term. Despite some reservations, all of the children caught a wave and had the best time surfing with South Shield Surf School.
Looking forward to the rest of our lessons over the next few weeks.
Each Wednesday morning our children take part in ‘paired reading’, this is where older children go and read with younger children.
As we saw the sun was out today we thought we’d take the session outside! Just makes it slightly more fun and memorable for our children.
The children in ARC2 are reading “Stone Age Boy” in Literacy.
Today they worked in pairs to act out a scene between the two main characters, thinking about their facial expressions and body language.
They practised their scene and then performed for the class.
