During the last school closure, 5 children were chosen to be lockdown leaders.
Their task was to keep the children, still at school, fit and active despite the limitations of lockdown. They decided the best way to do this was to organise a series of competitions.
They decided to organise a timed run, an obstacle course and a football skills course for the whole school to complete.
All three events were a great success and the lockdown leaders were awarded £20 worth of gift vouchers each by South Tyneside Sport Network last week. Well done lockdown leaders!
Class 4 have loved their Design Technology project this term – to make their own wheeled vehicle.
Over the last few weeks Year 4 have been creating Egyptian Death Masks! Today was the papier-mache stage.
Lots of mess, laughter, squeals of sloppiness and more laughter later and we have 22 masks drying and ready to paint after half term!
Class 9 took part in the cream cracker challenge this week. We tried to eat 3 crackers in one minute. We had many children very confident that they’d succeed but of course they found it impossible.
The methods ranged from eating little bits, eating more than one, shoving as much as possible in and breaking them but none succeeded.
We then looked at the science involved – saliva, enzymes and their role in the digestive system.

An exciting development within our school grounds is starting after the half term holidays!
‘The Secret Garden’ coming soon…
In Year 2 we are getting better with our mental arithmetic. Each week we do a test and our scores are improving and we are quicker at it too!
This half term in Year 3, the children have been working towards writing their own newspaper reports of the events of the volcanic eruption in Pompeii in 79AD.
Over the last few weeks they have been building up their skills, looking at structural features, the language used and planning and writing their own newspaper reports. Today they published their work using the Chromebooks.
Here are some examples of our amazing work!
