Class 6 – Baking up a storm!

28th November 2024Fiona Goodwin

Class 6 has been busy baking up a storm!

To wrap up their ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’ topic, the children explored where different foods come from, focusing on how wheat is grown, harvested and used in food production.

With the amazing help of our Head Cook Mandy, they rolled up their sleeves to mix, knead, shape and bake their very own bread!

Not only did they enjoy tasting their delicious creations during story time, but they also got to take some home to share with their families!

What a fantastic way to learn about food and enjoy the fruits of their labour!

Year 4 have been making congratulations cards in DT! The cards were to say well done at Annabelle who won our class vote for class leader during our lessons on democracy in our Law and Order topic ! We learnt that a lever is a mechanism to create movement, and then we made a small practise lever. We then designed our own congratulations cards with a moving part. Then, we used our new skills to create a larger lever in our cards to create moving rainbows, stars, moons and planes etc. The children’s cards were really effective and they really enjoyed making them.
