As part of Year 5’s ‘Mission Control’ learning path. Class 12 planned their own space based comic strips. Later using the Chromebooks to log onto the internet and bringing them to life online.
On October 21st pupils were selected by Mr Houmark and John from Westoe RFC to attend the annual Boldon School rugby festival.
Games were played in a groups system with the Year 5’s taking on East Boldon, Hedworthfield and Forest View. They won all three to top the group.
It was fantastic to see the skills taught in Friday PE sessions pay off in proper tag games.
On October 20th Year 4 attended the annual football festival at Boldon School. Having been split into three teams they played against East Boldon, Hedworth Lane, Hedworthfield and Ashley Primary.
After winning all 5 matches, West Boldon ‘C’ won the group to claim their winners medals (pictured).
During October the Year 5/6 Football side got back up and running. They’ve played three matches in the Newton League held at Boldon School. Coached this year by Mr Houmark and Miss Fraser.
A squad of 14 children were selected to attend the training group which has recently finished for the winter but will return in February time.
In our Commando Joe lesson this week our task was to help Goldilocks cross the river. The children are really getting to grips with looking at and pondering the best way to use the materials available. I was very impressed with how they are sharing ideas and listening to their classmates.

Year 4 have been using marbling inks to print their own book covers in Art.
We explored different colours and used the comb to create interesting patterns before transferring to paper.

Year 4 have been learning about circuits in Science.
We were set the challenge to create street lights for a dimly lit town.
We worked in groups to make our own little town a within a shoe box and then used circuits to light them up!

This week, Year 2 have started Rugby training with John from Westoe Rugby Club.
This is a brilliant opportunity for our children to explore team games within different sports and work with an affiliated Rugby coach. Perhaps he might discover some talent within our younger school community!
This half term Year 3 will be reading George’s Marvellous Medicine in Literacy. Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking at different types of poetry and writing our own.
