Stuart from Costain visited reception on Friday, he talked about the current building work at Testo’s roundabout and his role as a civil engineer.
He told us about the typical tasks he undertakes and answered our questions.
The children enjoyed finding out about the safety gear he uses and had the chance to try on his goggles, safety hat and hi vis jacket.
On Wednesday, 24 Year 5 children took part in a football competition at Castle View Academy. Although they didn’t win on this occasion, all children approached each game with a fantastic attitude and had a great time.
Year 4 recently created chariots in DT. They designed them, built them and then of course raced them! We had an ultimate champion from each class- it was very competitive.
Class 7 have been building their own volcanoes today. They worked in pairs to create the structure using paper-mache, and in the coming weeks we will paint and (hopefully) erupt them. A very messy afternoon but great fun was had by all! 🌋
This week is Mental Health Week. This year the focus is on Nature. Here are some of our Year 6 children’s wonderful poems. 🌲🌿🍃🌳
We have an abundance of beautiful blossom in our Reception garden. This week we have been using this gorgeous natural resource in our play. We have been using flowers to decorate our “sand cakes”, it has been added to perfume and potions in our mud kitchen and some of us enjoyed shaking it off the trees and having a quiet moments reflection amongst the petals.
The children in Class 8 raced against time to mummify each other ready for their class museum. They are making super Egyptologists.
Despicable Decimals! (I think that is how some of us feel about them).
Decimals is a topic the children really first encounter in year 4 and it can be really difficult to get our heads around.
We are working super hard and have looked at what is a decimal, writing decimals and converting fractions (tenths and hundredths) into decimals.
We have also been dividing 1 and 2 digit numbers by 10 and 100 – here we are practicing in our groups.
We are all working so hard and hopefully they won’t be despicable for long!
Year 4 started their new Computing topic this week: Can pictures move? Here, they created their own fantastic flipbooks!
