After a busy week, it was wonderful to take time to celebrate our children’s amazing behaviour and recognise just how many of them have met our Gold Standards

This all took place in our usual Friday Star of the Week Golden Coin Celebration, and it was lovely to hear how so many children truly shone — especially during a week when we welcomed our special Ofsted visitors into school. We couldn’t be prouder of them.

We are also very thankful to John Soulsby, who came into school to work with a group of our Key Stage 2 boys who have been learning all about how to grow giant vegetables. They absolutely loved asking him questions, and it was the highlight of their day.

Well done to everyone — a fantastic end to a very busy week at West Boldon Primary School!

The good news just keeps on coming!

We’re absolutely delighted to share that Mandy and her fantastic team received their Scores on the Doors hygiene inspection today — and once again achieved a perfect 5/5 rating!

This is an outstanding result and a real credit to the hard work, dedication and high standards that Mandy and the team maintain every single day. It’s so well deserved, and we’re incredibly proud of them.

Well done, team — thank you for everything you do to keep our school community safe and well fed!

Physical Friday Fun in Year 1/2!

We love Physical Fridays in Year 1/2! These sessions help us develop both fine and gross motor skills, which are so important for confident writing, maths and everyday learning.

Through fun, hands-on activities such as threading, playdough, peg challenges, phonics snakes and ladders, building number lines and picking up small objects, the children strengthen their hands and fingers while also building coordination, control, focus and teamwork

All of this supports better pencil control, clearer letter formation and growing confidence in writing – and best of all, the children are fully engaged, learning through movement, play and fun… just the way we like it!

Year 1/2 Explore the Wonders of Our Amazing Skin!

Year 1/2 had a brilliant time in their PSHE lesson all about skin — our amazing, stretchy, protective covering.
They explored how to keep their skin happy and healthy by washing, drying, and using creams, and they loved discovering that everyone’s skin is wonderfully unique. We even tested out just how stretchy skin can be by turning musical statues into a stretching extravaganza, striking different poses each time the music stopped.
A fun, lively lesson with lots of giggles and lots of learning.

Toothbrushing Time in EYFS!

Our Nursery and Reception children have started a brand new daily routine — brushing our teeth after lunch!

The children are learning how to look after their smiles, build healthy habits, and take responsibility for their own self-care. We’re so proud of how sensible and enthusiastic they’ve been!

Love Christmas Appeal 2025

A huge thank you from our School Council!

We were incredibly grateful to receive over 20 kind and generous food hampers from three local churches — Sacred Heart, St Gregory’s and St Oswald’s in South Shields.

Thanks to the generosity of these church communities, Miss Swales and Mr McCormack were able to deliver the hampers to families within our school community, helping to spread kindness and support at this time of year.

We are truly thankful for the care, compassion and generosity shown. It means such a lot to our families

What a fantastic (and festive!) start to the day at West Boldon Primary School with our Christmas Chaos Assembly this morning!

We celebrated our termly Gold Standard winners – a huge well done to all of the children who have worked so hard this term.

Every child was then treated to a selection box, kindly given as a Christmas gift from the school, before the excitement really built for our 96% attendance prize draw…

A massive congratulations to Ellie Mae, whose name was drawn out! She was absolutely delighted – and so were we.

What a brilliant way to spread some Christmas cheer across the school!

KS2 Christmas Party!

On Tuesday night it was the turn of our Key Stage 2 children to enjoy their Christmas party, and what a fantastic evening it was! The children looked amazing, all dressed up in their finest outfits, and had a brilliant time dancing, laughing and playing together with their friends.

They also tucked into an amazing buffet, kindly donated by our wonderful parents — thank you so much for your generosity and support. It truly helped make the night extra special.

A lovely festive celebration and a great way to spread some Christmas cheer here at West Boldon Primary School.

Rock Steady Concert

We had our termly Rock Steady concert this morning at West Boldon Primary School, and what a fantastic performance it was! From Last Christmas to Walking on Sunshine, the children treated us to a brilliantly diverse range of songs.

The progress we’ve seen over the past few months has been incredible. Not only has their musical ability grown, but their confidence, teamwork and stage presence have absolutely shone through.

We are so proud of every single child involved — well done, rock stars!
