What a magical day!
Our KS1 children had a wonderful Christmas party filled with smiles, dancing, games and festive fun.
What a lovely way to celebrate our final week at school before the Christmas break!

What an amazing lunch service that was!
Today we enjoyed our annual West Boldon Christmas Lunch, and what a fantastic festive feast it was! Some parents were even lucky enough to tie this in with our weekly Look and Lunch, giving them the perfect opportunity to tour our wonderful school, see our children working hard in class, and then sample Mandy and her team’s incredible Christmas dinner.
We were also thrilled to welcome Ethel, who came back from retirement for her once-a-year visit to help out — a real Christmas treat for us all!
Take a look at these photos and we’re sure you’ll agree that Mandy and her amazing team truly make the best Christmas dinner in all of South Tyneside. A huge well done to them for their hard work, dedication, and for ensuring our children enjoy delicious, nutritious meals every single day.
Another fantastic community event organised by the West Boldon Residents Association!
Our wonderful West Boldon Primary School Choir were proud to attend and take part in Carols Around the Tree once again this year. This tradition has been going strong for over 20 years, and it’s always a highlight of the festive season.
We’re so pleased to continue supporting this much-loved event and celebrating our strong community spirit.
What a fantastic start-of-the-week Golden Coin Assembly we had this morning at West Boldon Primary School!
It was wonderful to hear how so many children across every class have been meeting our Gold Standards — you are all amazing and should be very proud of yourselves!
We also had a West Boldon first… not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Golden Coin winners! One of those winners was the incredible Mrs Greenwell, recognised for all her hard work and dedication in supporting some of our children. A huge well done to her and to all of our brilliant winners!
We hope all of our children enjoy a fantastic weekend and get plenty of rest — next week is an important Assessment Week. Let’s all be ready to shine! Merry Christmas, everyone!
This week, our Art Club have been mastering all sorts of paper-folding techniques — bridges, zigzags, coils and spirals. Using their new skills, the children created some incredibly colourful 3D paper sculptures.
They’ve loved experimenting, and the results are absolutely fantastic!
To complete our Dimensions topic ‘That’s All Folks’, we took part in an interactive workshop all about emojis!
We played guess the emoji before completing 3 tasks. The children use iPad Pros, Apple pencils and an app called Procreate to:
1. Create their own yellow cartoon emoji
2. Create a message in emojis
3. Create their own emoji from scratch (the children were very creative designing everything from dinosaurs to animals, football emblems to Christmas treats)
We also learned about AI and how the children can use it safely.
All the children were a credit to West Boldon Primary and we even had some members of the public comment on how quiet and polite they were on the metro.
Another Fun Friday at West Boldon Primary!
We kicked off the day with our usual Star of the Week assembly – always a highlight! Our Golden Coin winner was extra lucky today… not only did they get to choose a book of their choice, but they were treated to a pepperoni pizza and chips from Fast Fry as their special reward!
We were also delighted to welcome a number of parents for our weekly Look and Lunch. They had the chance to tour the whole school, enjoy a delicious lunch with their child, and take a look at our new afternoon curriculum floor books which we’re really proud of!
It’s days like these that remind us what a wonderful community we have here at West Boldon.
Our Year 5s, 2s, and 1s spent a wonderful afternoon in paired reading. The younger students chose their favourite books and their older buddies read to them — smiles all around!
Extra lovely to see some sibling pairings too!
This afternoon, Year 6 stepped into the shoes of real geologists — exploring, observing and investigating a whole range of fascinating rocks.
They got hands-on: feeling textures, studying crystals, comparing colours, testing durability, and then working together to sort and categorise each rock like true scientists.
The curiosity, teamwork and brilliant scientific vocabulary on display were incredible.
It’s amazing to see our pupils becoming such confident thinkers and investigators!
Well done, Year 6 — the world is full of rocks waiting to be explored, and you’re already experts!
Yesterday our Year 1/2 children wrapped up warm and headed out for a snowy winter walk around West Boldon Primary!
We explored our school grounds just like the fox in Coming Home by Michael Morpurgo, using our five senses to notice all the magical wintery details that will help us with our setting descriptions next week.
The children gathered brilliant ideas ready to bring their writing to life. We can’t wait to start creating our own snowy scenes!
