Monday Night Art Club – Outdoor Creativity!

1st July 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

Our talented Art Club took full advantage of the lovely weather this week by heading down to the Secret Garden!

The children gathered natural materials and used them to create some absolutely stunning transient art. Their creativity and imagination shone through every leaf, twig, and petal!

What a wonderful way to end a Monday!

Shark-tastic Learning at West Boldon!

5th June 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

This week, our Afterschool LEGO League Club for Years 1, 2 & 4 at West Boldon Primary had a FIN-tastic opportunity to dive deep into the world of marine life!

We were thrilled to welcome Jillian Morris, the founder of @Sharks4Kids, for an exciting video call where our young ocean explorers learned all about sharks, their importance to the ecosystem, and how we can help protect our oceans.

The knowledge and inspiration from this session are now being brought to life in our LEGO League Submerged challenge—where our teams are designing builds based on what they’ve learned about ocean conservation.

Thank you, Sharks4Kids, for helping our children become ocean advocates—one LEGO brick at a time!

A Brilliant Start to Our Brand New Breakfast Club!

7th May 2025Fiona Goodwin

What a fantastic first week for our new Breakfast Club!

We’ve had nearly 50 children each day enjoying a calm, positive start to their school day. After a healthy, nutritious breakfast, they’ve loved playing board games indoors and making the most of the sunshine outside- building friendships and having fun!

No need to book – just turn up!

Breakfast club runs everyday from 8:00am to 8:25am via the main car park gate.

Come on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – or all week! It’s totally flexible, and there’s no limit to how many days you can attend.

We’re so please with how well its gone this week and know it’s a big help for our families. Thank you for your support!

We do things differently at West Boldon!

12th February 2025Fiona Goodwin

Here at West Boldon Primary, we love to think outside the box – and after February half-term, we’re proving it with the launch of our brand-new Monday Night Darts Club for KS2 children!

If your child fancies themselves as the next Luke Littler or Eric Bristow, this is their chance to sharpen their skills and have some fun.

Interested? Ask your child to request a letter from Mr. McCormack to get signed up. Let’s hit the bullseye together!

Art Club Update!

12th December 2024Fiona Goodwin

Our talented Art Club members have been hard at work creating incredible pieces inspired by animals from around the world!

  • They started by sketching seals from the Arctic, followed by vibrant African animals framed with traditional borders using oil pastels.
  • Next, they crafted a stunning watercolour ocean scene, complete with an under-the-sea collage. Along the way, the children explored analogous colours on the colour wheel and used complementary colours to bring their turtles to life!
  • To wrap up the term, they created beautiful clay Christmas tree decorations, painting them with acrylics to add a festive touch.

We’re so proud of their creativity and hard work!

KS2 Art Club Update

16th October 2024Fiona Goodwin

Our budding artists are travelling the world through Art! Last week, we honed our sketching and shading skills to draw majestic Antarctic seals. Today, we explored vibrant traditional African patterns and created unique borders, before sketching African animals using our developing drawing techniques.

Next week, it’s all about colour! We’ll bring our sketches to life with oil pastels, then dive under the sea to discover even more amazing animals.

Commando Joe Club

2nd October 2024Fiona Goodwin

CoJo After School Club Adventure!

Today, our young adventurers took on the challenge of crossing a dangerous river to rescue their friend from the enemy. Along the way, they explored important qualities in a friend: teamwork, communication, and looking out for each other. Together, they discussed how to keep everyone safe and how to help one another through tough situations.

Not only did they succeed, but they had an absolute blast while doing it! What an amazing way to learn the value of friendship and co-operation.

Musical Theatre Club – Opening Night

1st October 2024Fiona Goodwin
What a fabulous first night at Musical Theatre Club!! We’re ready to sing, dance, and act our hearts out!
Tonight, we kicked things off with some fun drama and acting games—freeze-framing movies, finding our group rhythm, creating imaginary objects, and even playing memory games to help with line learning! Crossing the room as wild and wonderful things was a blast!
Mrs. Garr, Miss Makel, and Miss Ingoe were so impressed with all the children! We had such a great time together!
There are still spaces available if you’d like to join us on Mondays! Let one of the adults know.
