This week Year 1 wrote their own instructions on how to make jam sandwiches for their tea party!
Year 1/2 have enjoyed gymnastic session with Mr Gilmore this term. We have learnt about rolling and balancing. Even though we find it tricky we persevered and have really noticed how much better we are becoming.
We loved exploring moving pictures and were completely transfixed to our own creations to make a picture move.

For art this term, Year 6 have been looking at famous artists and answering the question ‘By studying other artists’ work, can you capture your own drawing of an animal?’ Mrs Lauderdale and Mrs Cairns have been extremely impressed with their pupils artistic skills and enthusiasm. Some excellent work has been produced. We have created in the style of Mondrian, Monet and Picasso. We hope you love our art!
Year 4 have been learning about persuasive techniques in Literacy. We looked at the features such as rhetorical questions, emotional language and backing up your point with evidence. We used the techniques to tackle scenarios such as solving a disagreement and convincing parents to allow them a mobile or a sleepover. We then developed into a full debate discussing whether Wilbur the pig from Charlotte’s Web should be saved or not.
Check out our ideas!
Year 4 have been learning about the Russian artist who was thought to be the first abstract painter.
We have looked at his art and considered the techniques he used.
We then created our own versions of a Kandinsky piece.
Finally, we started to look at the different techniques he used using oil pastels.
This week in Year 5 we completed our final character descriptions and moved onto writing diary entries based on our class novel Journey to Jo’burg. We have worked hard to include a range of features in our character descriptions. Including the use of: sentence openers, interesting adjectives, similes and metaphors. Our final pieces of work have been excellent!
Rev Paul has very kindly given us a virtual tour of St Nicholas Church, especially for the children at our school.
Rev Paul will also be providing a fortnightly online assembly for our school.
