11th April 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

ARC1 and 2 had a cracking afternoon welcoming parents, carers, grandparents and siblings for some Easter fun!

There were plenty of egg-citing activities on offer – card making , painting egg decorations , and a school-wide Easter egg hunt ! We also shared some tasty hot cross buns and drinks together.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – it was a joy to have you in school and celebrate together!

Mother’s Day Celebrations

2nd April 2025Fiona Goodwin

On Monday, we wrapped up our final two Mother’s Day events, and what a special day it was!

Upper Key Stage 2 started the day with heartfelt performances, singing beautifully and sharing touching words about their love and appreciation for their mums.

Lower Key Stage 2 ended our celebrations with three stunning songs, followed by a delightful afternoon tea of scones and a good old cuppa!

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the incredible support from all our parents over the past two days. Thank you for making these events so special!

2nd April 2025Fiona Goodwin

We had an amazing time celebrating Mother’s Day with our Reception parents at our special Stay and Play session! It was heartwarming to see so many parents join us for a morning filled with fun, creativity and quality time with their little ones.

A huge highlight was hearing the children sing so beautifully – it was truly a special moment!

Thank you to all the parents who came along and made it such a fantastic event. Your support and involvement mean so much to us and, most importantly, to your children!

2nd April 2025Fiona Goodwin

On Wednesday, our Year 3 and ARC 2 pupils stepped back in time for an Ancient Greek adventure!

  • They practiced battle formations like real Greek warriors!
  • Listened to fascinating Greek myths and legends!
  • Tried our hand at writing our names in the Greek alphabet using ink and reed pens!

A fantastic day of history, storytelling, and hands-on learning!

OpenZone Lego Spike Visit

2nd April 2025Fiona Goodwin

Last week, our Year 4 students had an amazing time with the OpenZone exploring Lego Spike! They worked together to code, debug and build exciting projects, developing their teamwork and problem-solving skills along the way. It was fantastic to see their creativity and resilience in action!

A huge thank you to OpenZone for an inspiring hands-on experience! We can’t wait to apply what we’ve learned back in the classroom!

Reception Gardening Fun

26th March 2025Fiona Goodwin

Our little gardeners have been busy tidying and sorting the Reception garden, getting it ready for some exciting planting! Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be sowing seeds – including broad beans, inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk! Who knows…maybe we’ll grow a giant surprise!

Why did Jack plant a bean?

Because he wanted to stalk up on veggies!

Great job, Reception! We can’t wait to see what sprouts!

Diving into the world of Ancient Greece

19th March 2025Fiona Goodwin

Year 3 have been diving into the world of Ancient Greek myths!

Yesterday, they explored the famous myth of Medusa and Athena. The children worked in pairs to act out the story – one as Medusa and the other as Athena. Athena started by boasting about her beauty, before casting a curse that transformed Medusa’s hair into snakes!

They then go curious and wrote three questions they’d love to ask either character. To bring the myth to life even more, they took turns hot-seating, stepping into the roles of Medusa and Athena to answer the questions in character.

The children were absolutely fantastic, showing a brilliant understanding of the myth!

Physical Friday!

17th March 2025Fiona Goodwin
On Friday, at West Boldon Primary School, we had a fantastic time working on our fine motor skills to help improve our writing!
The children know that having strong arms, hands, and fingers is super important for forming letters and numbers correctly. Through cutting, threading, squeezing, and pinching, they had so much fun while building up their muscles!
Great job, everyone! Keep up the hard work!

British Science Week 2025

17th March 2025Fiona Goodwin
Class 4 had an amazing time experimenting with different types of sugar on Friday!
We explored how to make a fair test by discussing controlled variables and changing just one variable. Our investigation focused on whether the size of sugar granules affects how quickly the same weight of sugar dissolves .
The children loved getting hands-on with science and discovering the results! A fantastic way to celebrate British Science Week!
