Year One drawing club have drawn some lovely festive pictures tonight. A reindeer and an elf on the shelf
Class 4 have been exploring how to portray emotions through dance to music today. We talked about how our bodies might move to music that makes us feel sad, happy, angry and scared. We applied our new knowledge from our music lessons as we listened and talked about the tempo and dynamics. We then created a partner dance to show the emotions and tell the story of when Red Riding Hood met the Wolf at Grandmas. The children created some amazing dances!
In Year 1, we’ve been finding teamwork and communication with our friends very tricky. So our Commando Joe mission was adapted this week!
Each team member had to hold on to the rope so that we all had to travel together. Although each team travelled slower through “the woods” to Grandmas house than last time the “Red Riding Hood” teams were much more cohesive and everyone got back safely past the wolves den!
Teamwork makes the DREAM WORK!
In Year 1’s Dimensions topic this term – Happily Ever After – Class 4 have been tasked with some creative challenges. To make a clay pot for Cinderella and to design and make a tiny bag for a fairy. The children are working hard and developing personal skills of resilience and perseverance with these tricky challenges.
Year 1 have been learning about fairy tales as part of our Dimensions topic, Happily Ever After.
We had a fabulous time hunting for the missing nursery rhymes at Seven Stories, Newcastle. The children were captivated by Lawrence’s storytelling and so enthusiastic to complete the challenge set by the Crooked Man!
Class 4 have been working hard at their Power Maths lessons; developing their skills of working independently. Well done Class 4!

What a fabulous afternoon Class 4 had on Friday!
Following Thursday’s planning and pattern making lesson, the children used their self designed tiles to explore block printing.
The children were amazed at the effects and were really interested in playing with colour and overlaying just like the artist Andy Warhol who we have talked about.
Take a look at their amazing creations!
Year 1 had a wonderful afternoon crafting and toasting marshmallows in The Secret Garden.
These children have helped staff to develop this wonderful space over the past two years and now they can enjoy it for years to come at our school.
Class 4 took a trip down to the Secret Garden today to release our butterflies.
The children have been observing the changes from tiny caterpillar to chrysalis and then to butterfly over the past few weeks.
