Je voudrais…

17th December 2020Miss K. Wilkinson

In French this Autumn we have been learning about breakfast and fruit nouns. We spent our earlier lessons learning about the French words for fruit, vegetables and the items we have at breakfast. We then moved onto learning about how to ask for an item politely.

The children practiced saying ‘Je voudrais (item) sil vous plait’ and ‘merci’ when they received the item. We then played a game to practice saying to words and asking for items. The children each had an item and swapped them politely.

17th December 2020Miss K. Wilkinson
Year 4 have had great weekly lessons with Tony this year. We have covered some hockey, football skills and athletics. The children have tried extremely hard to work together and to learn to win and lose with grace.
We have some great athletes in Year 4 and everyone has improved this year. They always put in 100%.

The Giving Project Update 17th Dec 2020

17th December 2020Miss K. Wilkinson

‘TO GIVE, TO HELP, TO BE KIND AND CREATE HAPPINESS’

This week, being the final week of term, the 2020 Giving Project came to a close. Here is what we have been up to…

The Reception children, aged of 4 and 5 years old, had their beautiful Christmas cards delivered to the residents of the Meadows Care Home. Mrs Kelly, our Midday Supervisor, kindly donated her time to supervise the children while they made them.

The food bank also received a fresh new batch of festive cupcakes made by the children in year 5, along with donations of food from staff members. All were greatly appreciated.

At this time of the year we would also usually be welcoming our parents into school to watch our Christmas performances. Unfortunately, as this isn’t currently possible, children have learned and performed a Christmas song in their bubbles.

Watch the video on our Facebook page:

Mrs Garr, Mr McCormack and Mrs Anderson were also out and about around Boldon today delivering the Christmas hampers that have been created from the very generous ‘Just Giving’ donations we have received. Overall we raised on £440 of a £250 target!

The people who received the gifts were so happy and it brought some well needed Christmas cheer to a lot of people.

St Nicholas Church also kindly created a little prayer card to be added to these special deliveries.

Finally, all of the children were given a special Christmas gift today from all of the staff in school, here are some of the children wearing their gifted Santa hats with pride!

Class 5 and 7’s trip to St Nicholas Church

16th December 2020Miss K. Wilkinson

This morning Class 5 and Class 7 enjoyed a trip to St Nicholas’ Church. They learned about how Christians celebrate Christmas, and asked Rev. Paul some questions relating to the church itself.

All of the children were so impeccably behaved and are a real credit to our school!

Year 4 (Classes 8 & 9) Home Learning

14th December 2020Miss K. Wilkinson

All home learning tasks have been assigned on your child’s Seesaw with instructions. Year 4 staff encourage all children to use their Seesaw wherever possible to read the tasks as there may be internet links and videos to support their home learning.

Seesaw is accessible on smart phones via the ‘Seesaw Class’ app or using an internet browser on laptops and computers at seesaw.me. All tasks can be completed on paper and do not need to be completed on Seesaw unless the children wish to do this. Teachers will also give feedback to tasks where possible through the Seesaw.

Please find below a list of resources and tasks for Year 4 for home learning during the period 15th-17th December 2020. If you would like a hard copy of these resources please contact the school office.

Don’t forget you can also use these apps below. Click on the icons to take you to the login pages. If you need a reminder of any login information please contact the school.

Stocks and Shares

11th December 2020Miss K. Wilkinson

For computing this half term, Year 6 floated some shares on the stock market! We bought and sold our fictional shares and used real data from the stock exchange to hopefully make a profit! We also had a visit from Dave Burns who taught us methods to stay safe online.
