A new project has been introduced into the school

To Give, To Help, To Be Kind and Create Happiness.

This Christmas, as part of the ‘Giving Project’, the children made beautiful Christmas cards to give to the residents of the Sycamore Care Home, they also hand delivered their Christmas cards to the bungalows in Don View.

The children wanted to send Christmas wishes to members of the local community, to let them know that they are thinking of them at this special time of year. They were all greatly received.

‘TO GIVE, TO HELP, TO BE KIND AND CREATE HAPPINESS’

Some of the children in year groups 3 to 6 have been involved with the ‘Giving Project’ to achieve the ‘Dance Together Award’.

To achieve the award the children volunteered to work together as a team, shared their ideas and helped each other to create a dance routine during their playtimes.
They were very proud to perform their fabulous dances for Mrs. Garr and other school staff.
They created a lot of happiness and enjoyment for everyone who was involved.

The Giving Project Update 30th March 2021

30th March 2021Miss K. Wilkinson

‘TO GIVE, TO HELP, TO BE KIND AND CREATE HAPPINESS’

Over the course of the Spring 2 half term, with the return of all children on March 8th, the Giving Project has been continuing to run at full speed!

Anita, our Midday Supervisor, kindly donated her time to make Easter cards with the Year 6 children for the elderly residents of the local Sycamore Care Home. The children enjoyed decorating the cards, wishing the residents a ‘very happy Easter’ and to let them know they are thinking of them, spreading a little happiness at this happy time of year.
Another Midday Supervisor, Sara, kindly donated her time to make beautiful ‘thank you‘ cards with the Year 4 children. The cards were delivered to all staff, students and volunteers who work in our school to remind them that ‘they make a difference every day’,  and that the support and dedication they show every day is greatly appreciated by the children.
Keep checking back for more Giving Project updates. It is important to continue to be kind and spread happiness during these difficult times.

The Giving Project Update 23rd Feb 2021

23rd February 2021Miss K. Wilkinson

‘TO GIVE, TO HELP, TO BE KIND AND CREATE HAPPINESS’

During the last few weeks, our children and staff have been working harder than ever; adapting to new challenges, teaching and learning both remotely and in their bubbles. It has been a tough half term for all.

Over the course of the last week of the Spring 1 half term, our amazing and very generous lunchtime supervisors took time out of their busy schedules to create some wonderful greeting cards for our pupils both at home and at school.

These cards were delivered to our home learners in their home learning packs delivered in the last week of term, and our lovely key worker children took theirs home on the last day of term.

Keep checking back for more Giving Project updates. It is important to continue to be kind and spread happiness during these difficult times.

The Giving Project Update 17th Dec 2020

17th December 2020Miss K. Wilkinson

‘TO GIVE, TO HELP, TO BE KIND AND CREATE HAPPINESS’

This week, being the final week of term, the 2020 Giving Project came to a close. Here is what we have been up to…

The Reception children, aged of 4 and 5 years old, had their beautiful Christmas cards delivered to the residents of the Meadows Care Home. Mrs Kelly, our Midday Supervisor, kindly donated her time to supervise the children while they made them.

The food bank also received a fresh new batch of festive cupcakes made by the children in year 5, along with donations of food from staff members. All were greatly appreciated.

At this time of the year we would also usually be welcoming our parents into school to watch our Christmas performances. Unfortunately, as this isn’t currently possible, children have learned and performed a Christmas song in their bubbles.

Watch the video on our Facebook page:

Mrs Garr, Mr McCormack and Mrs Anderson were also out and about around Boldon today delivering the Christmas hampers that have been created from the very generous ‘Just Giving’ donations we have received. Overall we raised on £440 of a £250 target!

The people who received the gifts were so happy and it brought some well needed Christmas cheer to a lot of people.

St Nicholas Church also kindly created a little prayer card to be added to these special deliveries.

Finally, all of the children were given a special Christmas gift today from all of the staff in school, here are some of the children wearing their gifted Santa hats with pride!

This week Chris the Midday Supervisor has been helping the Year 4 children to make their own tree decorations. Each one has a little note inside which they will give to their friends. Here they are adding them to the Christmas tree.

We are so lucky to have such wonderful and generous midday supervisors who are volunteering their time to the project!
