We had a great ‘star of the week’ assembly on a Friday. Was so nice to hear about all the good work and fantastic attitudes that these children showed last week. Our year 3/4 quad kids competitors were also happy to receive their certificates.
Some of our year 3/4 pupils had a great day out on Friday at the South Tyneside Quad kids sports competition. The gave their all at Monkton Stadium and put in some amazing performances but unfortunately it wasn’t our day. Maybe next year!
Year 5 went to Boldon Comp to compete in the annual rugby tournament. They showed fantastic teamwork, resilience and confidence in their matches. We are so proud how they represented the school and themselves. Our teams came 1st and 2nd!
Well done everyone!
Year One came together to celebrate Pyjamarama with cosy blankets, hot chocolate and some of our favourite bedtime stories read by Miss Smith
Please see the attached video for information for the parents of any children starting Reception in September 2023.
Class 4are learning about the famous palaeontologist Mary Anning this term in history. Today they recreated one of her famous fossil finds – the ithyosaur. The children estimated how long 5.2metres was and then used a trundle wheel to measure the distance out. They then used the Kapla blocks to build the likeness of the ithyosaur.
As part of our dimensions topic ‘War of The Worlds’ year 5 went on a trip to Eden Camp.
The children learnt how the modern history museum was originally a prisoner of war camp. They explored the the different huts which covered different aspect of the war, starting with the rise of the Nazi Party, Hitler and The Outbreak of War. Other topics include: Rationing, Evacuees, The Blitz, Air Raid, Animals at War and Women at War ect.
The trip allowed the children to deepen their understanding of history and the impact of WWI & WWII. Overall, they had a great day out with a few ice creams and gifts from the gift shop.
A few weeks ago Boldon Library asked our eco-committee to create an eco-art project as part of their ‘Earth Day’ event. There would be a competition between some local schools.
Our eco-warriors rose to the challenge, they discussed what they wanted to make, collected the resources we would need and set about making some wonderful creations. And guess what?…WE WON!!
Gail and her colleagues visited our school to present the children with a certificate, trophy and prize! Well done to our fabulously creative eco-committee 👏🏼
