Year One have been working hard to learn the steps for a dance routine this term. They worked in small groups and worked so hard as a dance troupe to master the dance Waka Waka.
Year One had a great time when they visited The Word. We had a great time using the green screen technology and using the touch screen technology to explore publisher packages.
As part of our work based on our focus text, we thought about how Begu may need a new friend. We all thought of a new friend and what Begu might be saying.
Year One have been exploring how to solve their calculations by using concrete materials.
Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed our trip to see Aladdin at Boldon School. We laughed and marvelled at the wonderful acting and singing from the Boldon School Theatre troupe. Hopefully we will see some of our current Year 6 in future performances!

Children have been learning about the Amazon rainforest both during their topic lessons and while reading their class novel (Journey to the River Sea). As part of this process, children have created their own advert to advertise the Amazon and the experience and tourist would gain by visiting it. Children are currently typing up their leaflets read for display.
Last week was mental health awareness week. In our PSHE sessions, year 6 worked around the main theme of bravery. We thought about brave characters we know and love, such as Cinderella, Jack (from Jack and the Beanstalk), Hansel and Gretel, Peter Pan and Little Red Riding Hood. We discussed how they were brave and how we have also been brave in our own lives too.
We then created our own brave character and wrote why they were brave. Here are two examples –
We have started our new novel – ‘I was there …Titanic’ which explores a young third class passenger travelling on board Titanic. We wrote setting descriptions, imagining we were Daisy boarding Titanic at Southampton dock, using our senses, to soak in the atmosphere and describe her new surroundings.
Lots of the children have been excited by the new Frozen film. We explored some pictures from the film and from real life frozen landscapes to investigate ‘cold’, ‘winter’, ‘frozen’ colours.
The children really impressed us at what they noticed, especially when they started to notice the shades of colours in the pictures.
We used our new knowledge to create our own large scale ‘frozen’ process art.
We worked in steps. building up the layers, colours, shade and embellishments. The children worked collaboratively to produce their art work, that would hang proudly in any art gallery.
