The Thurston excitement continues…some of the children have had a fun filled day taking part in team building activities and rock climbing. They are all having fun and eating well!
It was an exciting day for many of our year 5/6s as they headed off to Thurston in the Lake District. They had a nice drive over and stopped en route for some lunch. They have just arrived now safe and sound; they are busy unpacking and getting allocated their dorms.
The weather was perfect today and enabled us to hold both Rec/KS1 and KS2 Sports Days. The children loved trying their best to be the fastest and we had huge support from our parents/carers as usual. We know the children will sleep well tonight!
Each Wednesday morning our children take part in ‘paired reading’, this is where older children go and read with younger children.
As we saw the sun was out today we thought we’d take the session outside! Just makes it slightly more fun and memorable for our children.
Year 5 have had a visit from Jaswinder Singh from North East Sikh Service to share with the children thoughts on the catalyst question in RE; How do Sikhs show commitment and belonging?
The children also had an opportunity to ask questions and participate in traditional Sikh meditation together.
Children across the school enjoyed coming into school in their pyjamas on Friday to raise money for our Opal lunchtime play provision.
Take a look at all our lovely outfits!

The Greenpower challenge to build an electric car supports science and design technology curriculum areas.
The children were extremely enthusiastic about the project!
Well done Year 5!
Huge thank you to Mrs Goodwin’s dad for coming into school and creating this amazing drone footage. How amazing does the school look? it’s so nice to see all the children loving life.

Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Eden Camp today!
A visit to the museum was a fabulous way to introduce our new Dimemsions topic. Everyone experienced what a street looked like during the Blitz and life on a submarine. We also learned more about evacuees, rationing and the great escape.
