World Book Day 2026!

7th March 2026Miss K. Wilkinson

What an incredible day we’ve had celebrating World Book Day at West Boldon Primary! Our school has been filled with amazing characters from the wonderful world of books, and we have been blown away by the creativity and effort that has gone into the costumes. The children – and staff! – all look absolutely fantastic. From classic storybook characters to modern favourites, it has truly brought our love of reading to life across the school.

As part of today’s fantastic World Book Day celebrations, Mandy and her amazing catering team also created a truly magical Alice in Wonderland-themed lunch for all of our children! The dining hall was transformed into a wonderful Wonderland feast, and the food looked absolutely unbelievable. From the creative presentation to the delicious treats on offer, it was a lunchtime our children will definitely remember!

In the afternoon, celebrations moved outdoors to our fantastic fire pit area, where the children enjoyed a truly special reading experience. Wrapped up in the fresh air, they toasted marshmallows over the fire while chatting with friends about their favourite stories and characters.

The children also had the chance to relax with a delicious hot chocolate while spending time reading their books together — the perfect way to celebrate a day dedicated to the joy of reading.

Days like today are a brilliant reminder of just how important reading is. Reading opens the door to imagination, builds vocabulary, develops creativity and allows children to explore new worlds, ideas and adventures. Encouraging a love of books at a young age helps set children up with skills that will benefit them for life.

A huge well done to everyone for making such a fantastic effort today, and thank you to our families for helping create such brilliant costumes. We hope today inspires even more children to pick up a book and discover their next great story!

Celebration Assembly 27th Feb 2026

7th March 2026Miss K. Wilkinson

What a way to end the half-term! We had an amazing last day of half-term celebrating our Ofsted Party Day, and the children absolutely loved it!

The morning began with our usual Star of the Week Golden Coin Celebration Assembly, where it was fantastic to celebrate all the brilliant achievements and positive choices across school

After that, the children enjoyed a lovely, relaxed morning watching a film, followed by Bag Day lunch, kindly provided by Mandy and her wonderful team

The afternoon was full of smiles, laughter and energy with fun games and activities, topped off with buffet snacks generously donated by our parents — thank you so much for your continued support

A perfect end to a fantastic half-term and a well-deserved celebration for our amazing children.

Pancake Day in the ARC

18th February 2026Miss K. Wilkinson

A Lovely Morning in ARC! Our amazing ARC children had a fantastic morning enjoying a hands-on cooking session, making their very own pancakes on the hob. From mixing the ingredients to carefully watching the pancakes cook (and flip!), the children were involved and engaged every step of the way.

Once the pancakes were ready, the fun continued as everyone chose their favourite toppings. There were lots of smiles, great choices being made and a real sense of pride as the children sat down together to enjoy something they had made themselves.

Activities like this are about so much more than cooking. They help develop independence, confidence, communication and teamwork, while also supporting fine motor skills and following instructions. Most importantly, the children had a calm, happy morning together — and the pancakes were absolutely delicious!

Well done to our ARC superstars!

Celebration Assembly 9th Jan 2026

25th January 2026Miss K. Wilkinson

It was fantastic to see all of our children back in school after the Christmas break. The smiles, enthusiasm and positive attitudes have made it a great start to the new term.

We were also really pleased to hear just how many children are meeting our school Gold Standards, which we celebrated in our Friday Celebration Assembly. Well done to everyone for such a positive return to school – keep it up!

Celebration Assembly 16th Jan 2026

25th January 2026Miss K. Wilkinson

After a busy week, it was wonderful to take time to celebrate our children’s amazing behaviour and recognise just how many of them have met our Gold Standards

This all took place in our usual Friday Star of the Week Golden Coin Celebration, and it was lovely to hear how so many children truly shone — especially during a week when we welcomed our special Ofsted visitors into school. We couldn’t be prouder of them.

We are also very thankful to John Soulsby, who came into school to work with a group of our Key Stage 2 boys who have been learning all about how to grow giant vegetables. They absolutely loved asking him questions, and it was the highlight of their day.

Well done to everyone — a fantastic end to a very busy week at West Boldon Primary School!

Love Christmas Appeal 2025

20th December 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

A huge thank you from our School Council!

We were incredibly grateful to receive over 20 kind and generous food hampers from three local churches — Sacred Heart, St Gregory’s and St Oswald’s in South Shields.

Thanks to the generosity of these church communities, Miss Swales and Mr McCormack were able to deliver the hampers to families within our school community, helping to spread kindness and support at this time of year.

We are truly thankful for the care, compassion and generosity shown. It means such a lot to our families

Celebration Assembly 19th Dec 2025

19th December 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

What a fantastic (and festive!) start to the day at West Boldon Primary School with our Christmas Chaos Assembly this morning!

We celebrated our termly Gold Standard winners – a huge well done to all of the children who have worked so hard this term.

Every child was then treated to a selection box, kindly given as a Christmas gift from the school, before the excitement really built for our 96% attendance prize draw…

A massive congratulations to Ellie Mae, whose name was drawn out! She was absolutely delighted – and so were we.

What a brilliant way to spread some Christmas cheer across the school!

Rock Steady Concert

16th December 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

We had our termly Rock Steady concert this morning at West Boldon Primary School, and what a fantastic performance it was! From Last Christmas to Walking on Sunshine, the children treated us to a brilliantly diverse range of songs.

The progress we’ve seen over the past few months has been incredible. Not only has their musical ability grown, but their confidence, teamwork and stage presence have absolutely shone through.

We are so proud of every single child involved — well done, rock stars!

KS1 Christmas Party

15th December 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

What a magical day!

Our KS1 children had a wonderful Christmas party filled with smiles, dancing, games and festive fun.

What a lovely way to celebrate our final week at school before the Christmas break!

Christmas Lunch 2025

12th December 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

What an amazing lunch service that was!

Today we enjoyed our annual West Boldon Christmas Lunch, and what a fantastic festive feast it was! Some parents were even lucky enough to tie this in with our weekly Look and Lunch, giving them the perfect opportunity to tour our wonderful school, see our children working hard in class, and then sample Mandy and her team’s incredible Christmas dinner.

We were also thrilled to welcome Ethel, who came back from retirement for her once-a-year visit to help out — a real Christmas treat for us all!

Take a look at these photos and we’re sure you’ll agree that Mandy and her amazing team truly make the best Christmas dinner in all of South Tyneside. A huge well done to them for their hard work, dedication, and for ensuring our children enjoy delicious, nutritious meals every single day.
