We had a lovely ‘star’ of the week assembly this morning. It was so good to hear how children are meeting her ‘Gold’ standards in school. It was also great to see a girl from reception receiving the ‘Gold Coin’ for her effort in kickboxing.

We had Zoolab into school today with Year 3 and the ARC. The children were so brave and loved being able to hold and pet all the various creatures… we’re not quite as sure some of the staff loved the experience!
We had a lovely ‘stay and play’ on Friday for all our dads (we were happy for mums, nanas and grandads to come too!). It was so nice to see the interaction between everyone and the children loved their families seeing their amazing reception classrooms.

The children in ARC 1 visited Washington Riding Centre this morning. They had a brilliant time riding the horses, every child embraced this new experience and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
Amazing afternoon for Year 4 just before we broke up for May half term. Despite some reservations, all of the children caught a wave and had the best time surfing with South Shield Surf School.
Looking forward to the rest of our lessons over the next few weeks.
Each Wednesday morning our children take part in ‘paired reading’, this is where older children go and read with younger children.
As we saw the sun was out today we thought we’d take the session outside! Just makes it slightly more fun and memorable for our children.
The children in ARC2 are reading “Stone Age Boy” in Literacy.
Today they worked in pairs to act out a scene between the two main characters, thinking about their facial expressions and body language.
They practised their scene and then performed for the class.
‘TO GIVE, TO HELP, TO BE KIND AND CREATE HAPPINESS’

A new project has been introduced into the school
To Give, To Help, To Be Kind and Create Happiness.
The Giving Project volunteers thoughtfully made ‘Teeth Brushing Charts’ for every child in Reception. The Reception children had a visit from the Dental Nurse, to teach the children how to brush their teeth correctly and the importance of looking after their teeth.
The Teeth Brushing Charts will help children track their teeth brushing each day, morning and night,as they tick the chart, once they have brushed their teeth.
The charts were greatly received by the Reception children and Mrs Bingham and staff were very proud of the Giving Project children for being so kind and thoughtful and for volunteering in their spare time.

Reception celebrated National Numeracy Day by taking their learning outside today!
The children were tasked with going on a shape hunt in their outdoor area. They managed to find lots of examples of both 2D and 3D shapes!
Well done Reception!
