Class 10 spent a morning exploring Lego Spike. They followed instructions to build the different models and then learnt how to code a programme to make the models move, make sound or how to use sensors.
We love reading at West Boldon Primary so we especially love world book day! The children (and staff) looked fabulous in their outfits and had a lovely day after Miss Ingoe’s class lead an assembly based on reading. We can’t wait for next year.
Arc2 are really enjoying their Dimensions topic all about Africa. Today they researched one of the big 5 African animals using non fiction books and the internet to find out about their appearance, diet and habitat. The children then produced excellent fact files about their chosen animals, showing lots of independence when writing.
How amazing do our school football team look in their new kits. Thank you so much to the PTA and Education Network (kit sponsor).
The children were over the moon to try them on in anticipation of the next match on Monday.
Year 1/2 had the most wonderful, fun-filled day at Beamish today.
As part of their Royal Patrons topic they visited the 1950s town where they took part in a toys workshop and had the chance to play with lots of toys from that era.
They also enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch before a little visit to the old school, where they had a go at using slates to write followed by a quick play of hoop rolling on the yard!
They were also very lucky to be able to ride the tram!
What a fab morning!
We have had our very own launch event which introduced the children to Rocksteady workshops that will be held in school. Today gave the children a chance to try out the instruments and learn all about being a musician in a band!
Rocksteady is an incredible opportunity for the children to learn to play their favourite songs in their very own band with a choice of drums, keyboards, electric guitar, bass guitar or vocals. Lessons will take place every week during school time.
As well learning new musical skills, lessons also help the children with their confidence, wellbeing, social skills and teamwork. These fun and inclusive lessons are taught by highly trained, professional musicians who know how to inspire a life-long love of music.
At the end of each term each band will perform a concert for the school and their families, so you can see how far they have come!
Year 5 enjoyed a fabulous day at The Great North Museum to support our Egyptian topic. We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about mummification and taking part in the mummification process.
What a fabulous day we have had in Reception.
As part of our Dimensions theme Come Fly With Me… Asia we explored Chinese culture. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring some of the traditions as well as cooking and tasting some delicious food
As part of the mission we had to refuel our engines after they were damaged in a sandstorm. They only way to transport water from the oasis was to fold paper and carry it through an obstacle course.
Our school council loved their morning trip to Newcastle and Pizza Express to make their own pizza margarita as a reward for all their hard work. They were a credit to the school as always.
