Back to School 2025!

3rd September 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

What a wonderful first day back at West Boldon Primary!

The school is once again filled with joy, laughter, and lots of smiling faces. The children have already settled back into their learning and are busy chatting with their friends about all the exciting things they got up to this summer.

It’s so good to have them back – our school feels complete again.

Colour Run 2025

18th July 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

We keep saying we do things a bit differently here at West Boldon… and today proved it more than ever!

Who needs a traditional sports day when you can have a full-on, laughter-filled, joy-packed COLOUR RUN instead?

This was our very first attempt at something like this – and WOW, what a success! The atmosphere was electric, the smiles were endless, and we’re still not sure whether the children, staff, or parents had more fun. Some pupils even snuck through the course three or four times because they were having that much fun!

A huge, huge thank you to all of our amazing staff who organised the day and made it so special. It’s safe to say this was one of the best days of the year at West Boldon Primary.

We hope everyone’s managing to get the paint out – although those colourful memories might just stick around a little longer.

SPARTACUS LIVES!

18th July 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

Our brave Year 5s channelled their inner warriors during their Commando Joe mission today! They worked together to FREE the hostages — just like Spartacus and his fearless crew freeing the gladiators from the clutches of the Roman Empire!

There was crawling, sneaking, planning, shouting (and a bit of dramatic rolling)… all in the name of teamwork and ancient heroism!

Watch out Rome… West Boldon’s Year 5s are coming for you!

Year 4 visit to Durham Cathedral

15th July 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

Year 4 had an amazing trip to Durham Cathedral!

As part of our topic, “Why do people visit Durham Cathedral today?”, we explored the history, art, and faith that make this place so special.

From stunning stained glass windows to peaceful prayer spaces, we discovered how the cathedral is not just a building – it’s a place of worship, learning, and community.

The children asked brilliant questions and showed great curiosity throughout.

A huge thank you to the cathedral staff and volunteers for helping the children with their project.

Ice Cream Van visits KS1

10th July 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

What a well-deserved treat for our amazing Key Stage 1 children!

As a reward for all their hard work in phonics lessons this year — and their brilliant efforts in the phonics screening check — the children were surprised with a visit from the ice cream van!

The excitement was contagious as they spotted it pulling into school! Everyone enjoyed a delicious Mr Whippy while sitting on the grass, chatting and laughing with friends in the sunshine.

Well done, Key Stage 1 — we’re so proud of you!

Celebrating Diversity Week at West Boldon Primary

29th June 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

This week, West Boldon Primary has been celebrating Diversity Week – a time to recognise and value the many ways in which we are all unique.

As part of our celebrations, we are proud to highlight our achievement of the Rainbow Flag Award, which reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusion and equality. The award shows how we embed respect for all into our curriculum and daily school life, ensuring that every child and family feels welcomed and valued.

Throughout the week, pupils have taken part in activities, lessons, and discussions that celebrate different cultures, families, and identities. From exploring inspiring role models to creative art projects, the children have enjoyed learning about the importance of kindness, respect, and understanding.

By linking our Diversity Week to the Rainbow Flag Award, we show that celebrating difference isn’t just a one-off event – it is a core part of who we are as a school.

At West Boldon Primary, we believe that everyone belongs, and our Diversity Week has been a fantastic reminder of the strength and joy that comes from embracing our differences.
