Celebration Assembly 4th July 2025

4th July 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

This morning, we held our Star of the Week Golden Coin Celebration Assembly and it was absolutely wonderful to hear how so many of our children are consistently reaching our school’s Gold STANDARDS—both in their behaviour and their attitudes to learning.

Well done to all of our shining stars this week!

A quick reminder: Next week is a very important one in the school calendar. It’s our Final Assessment Week, where teachers will carry out a series of tests to measure the progress children have made throughout the academic year.

On Tuesday, we will also be sending home end-of-year school reports, which will include the class teachers for next year. Please keep an eye out for these in your child’s bag!

Let’s all keep up the great effort and finish the year strong!

A Journey Through Time at West Boldon!

3rd July 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

Today, our children were taken on a fascinating journey through the history of our local area during a special assembly. They discovered some incredible inventions made right on our doorstep – including the pioneering work of Joseph Swan and George Stephenson!

We then explored the history of our own school site – did you know that before West Boldon Primary was built, it was just open fields with a burn running through it? The school first opened as West Boldon County Junior Mixed School on 3rd October 1963, officially opened by Alderman J. Lynch B.E.M.

The children were captivated by an original commemorative pamphlet and old photographs showing classrooms and the school hall from many years ago.

Do you remember West Boldon School back in the day? We’d love for you to share your memories with your children and bring the past to life at home.

What a wonderful way to end a Monday!

Celebrating Diversity Week at West Boldon Primary

29th June 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

This week, West Boldon Primary has been celebrating Diversity Week – a time to recognise and value the many ways in which we are all unique.

As part of our celebrations, we are proud to highlight our achievement of the Rainbow Flag Award, which reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusion and equality. The award shows how we embed respect for all into our curriculum and daily school life, ensuring that every child and family feels welcomed and valued.

Throughout the week, pupils have taken part in activities, lessons, and discussions that celebrate different cultures, families, and identities. From exploring inspiring role models to creative art projects, the children have enjoyed learning about the importance of kindness, respect, and understanding.

By linking our Diversity Week to the Rainbow Flag Award, we show that celebrating difference isn’t just a one-off event – it is a core part of who we are as a school.

At West Boldon Primary, we believe that everyone belongs, and our Diversity Week has been a fantastic reminder of the strength and joy that comes from embracing our differences.

27th June 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

At West Boldon Primary School, we love recognising the amazing achievements of our pupils—and this week was no exception!

Our Stars of the Week, chosen by their teachers, have been shining brightly through their outstanding behaviour, brilliant effort in class, and kind-hearted support for others. From showing resilience in learning to being wonderful role models, each of these children has made us incredibly proud. Well done to all of you!

A special congratulations goes to our Golden Coin winner this week! This lucky pupil was personally selected by our headteacher, Mrs Garr, for consistently showing our school values. As part of their reward, they got to choose a book from our fabulous book vending machine—a special treat that celebrates a love of reading and a job well done.

We’re so proud of every child who continues to embody our Gold Standard Behaviour and Gold Standard Work. Keep up the fantastic effort, West Boldon!

Foundation of Light Visit – Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds!

27th June 2025Miss K. Wilkinson

Today, we welcome (as we do every Friday) the Foundation of Light team into school! They delivered a brilliant session all about healthy lifestyles, helping our children understand that staying healthy isn’t just about exercise—it’s also about eating well too.

Using the Eatwell Guide, the children explored how to build a balanced diet and learned why nutrition is just as important as keeping active.

We loved the Food hunt around the grounds!

A huge thank you to the team for making health and wellbeing fun, engaging and easy to understand!
